Host Carole Gibson interviews Dr. David Burks, a Urologist at the Henry Ford Hospital, and Dr. Theodore Meadows, a Pathologist and Chairman of the Pathology Department at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, to discuss prostate cancer and the Detroit Education and Early Detection (DEED) project. DEED was started at Wayne State University and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital with the aim to screen as many African American males as possible to detect prostrate cancer and hypertension at an early age. Also includes an interview with James Beard, a prostate cancer survivor and volunteer lecturer with the DEED project.
